Woman of the Year

Each year, in honor of Women’s History Month, we proudly recognize three exceptional women whose work is creating meaningful impact across our district. One honoree is selected from the SAC campuses, one from the SCC campuses, and one from the District Office. The 2026 Women of the Year at RSCCD are as follows:

Women of the Year 2026

 

  • Photo 1: From Santa Ana College, Evelyn Elmore was honored for more than three decades of service as an ESL educator and a dedicated advocate for part-time faculty across California. Through her leadership as President of CEFA, she has helped advance working conditions, strengthen faculty support, and elevate recognition for adjunct educators, impacting both her colleagues and the students they serve.
  • Photo 2: From Santiago Canyon College, Ambar Nakagami was recognized for the vital role she plays in supporting the day-to-day operations of the college. Through her work in Administrative Services and her involvement in shared governance, she contributes across the campus in ways that help keep everything moving forward. Her commitment and steady approach reflect the strength of the SCC community.
  • Photo 3: Representing the District Office, Melissa Gunther was acknowledged for her leadership and impact as Principal Human Resources Analyst. With only a year and a half since her hiring, she has become a trusted resource and mentor, known for her thoughtful approach to complex issues and her ability to support others with professionalism and care. Her work continues to strengthen both the Human Resources team and the district as a whole.
